Pastor Mandi on the shore of the Mediterranean Sea in 2019.
Pastor Mandi has been the pastor at Genesis since October 2016. She has served churches in various capacities for the past 20 years – as youth director, Christian educator, contemporary worship leader, guest preacher, community minister and associate pastor.
Pastor Mandi believes that all persons were created in the image of God. Therefore, all persons are beloved, cherished, valued and precious, and should be treated that way. All persons -- all races, colors, ethnicities, nationalities, genders, orientations, and faiths -- should be treated with love and respect. Pastor Mandi loves building relationships and helping folks to feel welcome. She's been known to go to a protest or two, fighting for justice, equality and equity for all.
Pastor Mandi was born and raised outside of Pittsburgh, PA and attended Geneva College, earning degrees in Youth Ministry and Speech Communication. She attended Pittsburgh Theological Seminary, where she earned a Master of Divinity, graduating in 2006. While at seminary, she was humbled to receive two preaching awards: the Walter P. and Anna L. McConkey Award in Homiletics and the Robert M. Ezzell Homiletical Prize. She has been ordained in the Presbyterian Church (USA) since 2008.
Mandi relocated to Austin in January 2011 for her spouse's work. She is a mother of two and loves coffee, laughing and the Beatles. She is currently pursuing a Doctor of Ministry at Austin Presbyterian Theological Seminary, focusing on Engaging Leadership for Public Theology.
